About Ayush

Ayush Sharma performing, holding a tanpura

Ayush Sharmais a dedicated Hindustani classical vocalist and educator, bringing more than a decade of immersive training and performance experience to his musical journey. Grounded in the rich legacy of the Gwalior Gharana, his taleem began under the mentorship of Shri Vishwajit Bhattacharya ji of Banaras Gharana, who guided him in both classical and semi-classical forms. He continues his traditional training under the tutelage of Anshuman Bhattacharya ji, deepening his command over raga structure, voice modulation, and nuanced expression of Gwalior, Agra and Jaipur Gharana.

Alongside classical khayal and semi-classical forms, Ayush performs bhajans — devotional music that carries the same taleem into a more intimate, meditative register.

Today he balances the stage with the classroom, coaching students across colleges, academies and private sessions in the techniques, ragas, and performance sensibility passed down to him by his own gurus.

Reflection

What my guru never explained

Some lessons in Hindustani music aren't taught in words — they arrive slowly, through repetition, until one day the meend simply happens on its own.
